Clinical evaluation for flexion contractures of the fingers

Abstract
In seventy eight patients, 203 cases with finger contracture have been treated by various surgic l procedures during the past 5 years. The procedures have included simple Z-plasty, various types of r tation flaps with or without skin graft, V-Y plasty and skin graft only, depending on the nature of the involvement.
The results were as follows:
1. 44 of 78 patients (55.1%) were under the 15 years old, 12.8% above 31 years old.
2. The most frequent cause of injury was¢¥a burn (91.0%)..
3. Contractures were developed on fingers in 128 of 203 cases, 75 cases on web.
4. The methods of operatinos were skin graft (40.9%), skin graft and local flap (38.4%), local flap (19.7%) and distant flap (1.0%) in order of frequency.
5. As preoperative deformity was severer and the interval between injury and reconstruction was longer, the operative result was poorer.
